Este un arbust peren, adesea cultivat ca floare de gradina solitara sau gard viu sau chiar decorarea unui perete. Se recomanda amplasarea lui in spatii ferite de vanturi reci si uscate. Udarea se face in cantitati suficiente de apa, astfel incat solul sa fie mentinut umed, dar nu in exces. Iarna planta se tine in spatii racoroasee si se uda mai rar.
