Genul Citrus cuprinde mai multe specii de plante precum lamai, portocal, grapefruit, pomelo, mandarin, denumite de noi plante citrice. Acestea fac parte din familie Rutaceae si sunt originare din Asia si Europa. Aceste specii sunt mari iubitoare de lumina si necesita amplasarea in locuri bine iluminate, atat vara cat si iarna. In timpul verii, plantele citrice prefera sa fie scoase afara si sa beneficieze de soare din plin. Atentie, mutarea in soare direct nu se face deoadata deoarece planta poate suferi arsuri pe frunze. Nu este recomandata udarea in exces, astfel incat substratul sa fie permanat umed ci mai degraba acesta sa se usuce usor la suprafata intre doua udari (primii 3-5 cm).
