Bougainvillea este o planta iubitoare de lumina si caldura, care se gaseste cu precadere in zona Mediteraneana. Suporta foarte bine seceta si soarele direct. Bougainvillea-Floarea de hartie va creste foarte mult daca este amplasata sub directa actiune a razelor soarelui. In timpul verii temperaturile trebuie sa fie ridicate, iar pe timpul noptii sa nu scada sub 10 grade. Udare: Se face diferit in functie de anotimp. Primavara si vara udarea se face din plin astfel incat substratul sa fie mereu reavan. Toamna si iarna se reduce cantitatea apei de udare, astfel incat substratul sa fie aproape uscat. A se evita apa in farfurie deoarece excesul de apa la nivelul radacinilor duce la putrezirea lor si a plantei.
